Sr. Anna Maria attended CCA in 2001 and 2007, was the past president of German Federation. She was diagnosed with cancer of the spine in 2008. Those of us who met her at the CCA meetings will miss her bright spirit. No doubt she will continue to pray for us as we continue to move forward in our international relationships. May she rest in peace.

We offer our prayers and our sympathy to our Sisters in Elysburg and Concord as they grieve the loss of Sister Etheldreda (funeral homily) and Sister Paula. Sister Paula's picture was recently on the homepage of the CCA Website. May she now be face to face with the Lord to whom she prayed and be interceding especially for her blood Sister Therese and her religious Sisters in Concord and in the CCA.

Sr. Marie Celeste, OCD (picture)

We offer our prayers and sympathy to our Sisters in Reno. Sr. Susan, OCD, wrote to let us know that Sr. Celeste had peacefully gone to God.

Dear Sisters,
We are so grateful for you prayers that accompanied our beloved Sr. Marie Celeste on her journey to her God. Celeste died peacefully at 8:30 this morning. Pat and Maria who came with Celeste from Morristown in 1970 along with the whole community have taken such gentle care of Celeste this past years and it has been a blessing beyond measure to have Celeste so much a part of our community. Celeste has given so much of her life to painting images of Christ, Mary, our Carmelite Saints, women and children and the marginalized people of our world along with those who have given their lives in care of them. We are so grateful that she is now with them and able to see them face to face. We thank all of of you for your care and prayers.
Susan and all of your sisters in Reno

We offer our prayers and sympathy to our Sisters in Latrobe. Their Sr. Monica died on April 17th, shortly after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. May Monica now be enjoying the fullness of her new life in Christ. There is a legend that those who go before us send back a gift. Hence, we also pray that our Sisters in Latrobe will experience a gift of new blessings in their midst.

On Eagle's Wings

On March 12th the Recessional hymn at Eldridge Carmel was "On Eagle's Wings." Somehow this song chosen for the gospel of the rising of Lazarus, seemed especially appropriate as Sr. Mary Teresa Nies had just entered into eternal life. We will miss Mary and her personal enthusiasm for Carmel and for all that it means for the world.

During the months of her illness, Sister was especially cheered and supported by the prayers of her Sisters in CCA. Sr. Annamae often reminded her of our prayerful support and Sr. Mary, being an extravert, was especially grateful and heartened by the support of our Sisters in Concord Carmel and the Carmel in Varroville, Australia. In her own words: Good on ya, mates!

April 2004

We wish to offer our prayerful support and extend our sympathy to our Sisters in Beacon as they are suffering the loss of their Sr. Elizabeth, O.C.D. who entered into Eternal Life on April 8, 2004.

You don't need to use the picture but I thought I'd show it to you anyhow.  She was a honey.  Celebrated her 94th birthday on March 18th but was already going into final cardiac failure but got herself dressed and around for her birthday party at the noon dinner.  Even in her condition she didn't look much different than this photo taken at her 93rd birthday!

Her name: Elizabeth of the Mother of God (Chisholm), born in Salem, MA.  Was a dietician in Mount Sinai Hospital on 5th Ave in NYC before she entered Carmel.  Loved that work and never lost her taste and finesse with food.  She always knew what the ingredients of something was when she put a piece into her mouth.  She made her first profession in 1949.  I lived all my 44 years of religious life with her--it is hard to believe that she is not here, although I am sure I'll be hearing from her!

She died on Holy Thursday and was buried Easter Monday.  Two weeks before she died she had a sense that she would be going soon and was "packing her bags" as we call it, for days.  She knew and was in much peace.
